Delaware : Administration

Delaware the 45th state among the 50 states of United States is located on the Atlantic Coast on Mid-Atlantic region of United States. The state was admitted to the U.S union in 1787 as the 1st state. Delaware’s legislation consists of three branches-the executive, legislative and the judicial branch. The legislative branch is the Delaware General Assembly which consists of House of Representatives with 41 members and the Senators consists of 21-members. Representatives are elected for 2 year term while the Senators are elected for 4 year term. There are several courts established by the Delaware Constitution such as Delaware Supreme Court which is the highest court in the state other courts like Delaware Superior Court is the state’s trial court for general jurisdiction, the Delaware court of Chancery deals with corporate issues. The family court deals with family and custody issues. The Delaware court of common issues has jurisdiction over a limited class of civil and criminal cases. Delaware was the last state to use judicial corporate punishment in U.S. The executive branch in Delaware is headed b the Governor.
