Dover : Delaware

The City of Dover was founded in 1683 by William Penn. It is located in central Delaware on the Delmarva Peninsula and on the St. Jones River, 90 miles south of Philadelphia, PA, and 90 miles east of Washington, DC. Delaware which initially was laid out over an area of 125 acres in 1717 grew to nearly 1,000 acres in size by 1960.

Delaware has a moderate climate with four distinct seasons. Summer are hot and humid and surface winds generally blow from the northwest except in June when southerly winds prevail. From May through September winds blow from the southwest.
